Dresden

Dresden is the state capital of Saxony with about half a million inhabitants. It is located at the river Elbe close to the border triangle Germany/Poland/Czech Republic. It is particularly known for its long cultural history and celebrated its 800 anniversary in 2006. It is also one of the leading research locations in Europe, hosting one of the world's oldest technical universities and several research institutes of renown reputation, as well as high-tech industry.
